Ariadne had arranged a peaceful, quiet life she for herself after the Fischer job. And then he showed up. All smiles and charm that sent her head in a frenzy. It seemed like every time he was in town, he would visit her and she would be conveniently available. She knew the kind of work he was still involved in and the risks that came with it. But she didn't think that he would be under surveillance or that anyone would notice his infrequent visits to Paris.

But someone had found out about her. Someone had been in her apartment and was looking for something other than money. They even went to the trouble of leaving her a note. A friendly enough note to try and inspire her to come out of retirement. That sickeningly sweet kind of note that felt like it was laced with cobra venom. They wanted an Architect.

She called the only person she could think of.

"Hey..."

He kissed her back just as passionately. "I've got a question."

"Hmm?" she kissed him feverishly.

"You're on birth control, right?" He asked against her lips. "Are you having sex with anyone else?" He wouldn't be upset if she was. They weren't exclusive.

She let out a laugh; her chest had been tightening with his tone. "I'm not sleeping with anyone else Arthur." she went back to kissing him. "And I am on birth control."

"Then do we want to get tested so we don't have to use condoms?" He asked, slightly distracted by her lips.

"That would be decent of us." she breathed against his lips. "You did feel rather good."

He grinned. "Good, I'll schedule an appointment soon then."

"Is this your way of asking a girl of being exclusive to you?" she asked with a chuckle between kisses.

"Is that your way of asking me to be your boyfriend?" He asked with a smirk.

She couldn't help but laugh. "Way to be elusive there."

"I suppose we should make it official since we're part of the way there." He thought he would run away at the word boyfriend but he wasn't. He didn't mind the word at all.

She smiled before her look turned slightly serious, her face pulling back to look at him without the distraction of his lips. "Are you sure?"

"Yes," he replied simply. "I like you, a lot. And you're different than anyone else I've been with. When I say goodbye to you, I'm instantly missing you. That's never happened with anyone else."

That tightening feeling in her chest returned. She smiled as she tried to hold back her tears. She wasn't usually this emotional, perhaps it was just the day's exertions catching up with her. "I... I like you too Arthur."

When did he become so sappy? When had he ever cared about being sappy in front of her? "Good." He smiled at her and kissed her nose before pulling out with the intention of going to the bathroom.

Chuckling, she released him from the hold of her legs. She groaned as he pulled out, regretting releasing him so early.

He came back after a minute or two and got into bed with her.

Curling up at his side, she rested her head on his shoulder and draped an arm across his chest.

He sighed, pulling the blankets up. "So you're my girlfriend."

She had closed her eyes but she still raised her eyebrow. "And you're my boyfriend."

He laughed softly. "That doesn't sound as scary as I thought it was going to be."

"You thought it would be scary?" she chuckled, squeezing him gently.

"Commitment is scary," he pointed out. "And I'm not sure if I'll be a good boyfriend." Because while he may be her boyfriend, he was married to his work.

"Fair point." she ran her thumb over his ribs. "Though I'm not certain what else will change for the time being. Other than we're exclusive to each other."

He half shrugged. "I suppose you're right."
